I like this. I see a commercial use for this one ... I don't know what the product would be, but I see it used in an ad for something.

Here's mine for today: Public bathrooms in Cozumel, Mexico.

In Australia, I'm getting the 15-inch with 2GB, 2.33GHz, 160GB HD, shipping on/before 1 Nov, arriving to Brisbane on/before 8 Nov. I couldn't justify spending an extra $A818.40 (edu price) for an extra GB of RAM nor an extra $A140.80 for the 200GB HD. Reviews of the 200GB HD at tomshardware.com say performance is very average, and I would have felt about queasy about such bleeding-edge HD technology.

... was that what you were after?

No, that's the opposite of what I was after, that's the bug it has now. Sigh, this is exactly what I predicted, they added a bunch of new features but haven't fixed any of the major usability bugs and flaws it already has. Why does apple show iCal such contempt?

I do, and so does anyone who has a classic environment of System 7 and earlier for classic compatibility reasons.

Of course, and I meant that in the 'general sense'. I have long since abandoned the use of Classic on any of my OS X Macs or any of the Macs I support. AppleTalk is so deprecated that I can hardly believe that anyone will be able to use it much longer. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if it was completely absent from 10.5.

As for the AFP needing AppleTalk, I'm glad you linked the correction. As AppleTalk was an Apple prorietary networking protocol and more and more places were dropping support for AppleTalk routing between subnets/routers (it is PROHIBITIVELY expensive for routers that will pass AT traffic) AFP moved to AFPoverTCP.

I do, and so does anyone who has a classic environment of System 7 and earlier for classic compatibility reasons.

Which makes it even MORE odd that it's enabled by default in MacTels, which don't run Classic.

Still sneaky of Apple to advertise it as the same thickness as the black one...
As long as we're on the topic of measuring millimeters, notice how the screen on the physical iPhone 3GS is slightly smaller than on box picture (as well as pictures used on Apple.com website).

    http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/1757/iphone3gsscreensizemism.jpg

I don't know if the same applies for iPhone 4.

    Only slightly off topic

Without using iTunes & ATV, does anyone know of a product where you can wirelessly stream the media contents of any shared volume to the TV? I would imagine such a product would need a PC/Mac side client as well as a TV attached gizmolike iTunes & ATV. I have both anyway, but I was wondering of different options.

Boxee or any HTPC can be configured to stream movies from a network share.
I am currently using a hacked AppleTV running XBMC to stream movies from a SMB network share on my iMac.

1mm thicker, but the 30 or so people voting negatively are waaaaayyy thicker, and that rating system on the front page is colossally thick... and it's not enough that pretty much everyone hates that rating system, now we even have a rating system for posts... talk about anal retentiveness...:apple:

PERFECT! Now you can eat while you play! I really should have done mine this way.

I'll make the assumption that I'm going to lose the vote so I'll get some last analysis in while I can.

Make note of the people who voted for me.

Jav - Still not sure if he voted for me to silence me or because he was still mad at me for the last game. He is acting (voting) the same way he did last game.

Based on the above info, UCF is the best probability of getting a WW tomorrow. If UCF is a WW, then it's most likely that either Nies or Eldiablojoe is the other one.

Hardly voting same way as last time. Also, I'm voting against you for previously stated reasons. When the game started I got my PM which was also sent to you. Because of that (me wanting to feel special it was a unique own PM) I vote for you this game.

However people didn't get the joke. As per silencing you, meh... Could care less since I am no wolf, not that I can prove that in any way or form.

If the hints are any indication, I think Apple may be getting ready to one-up Zune before Zune hits the ground.

    * iTMS has been featuring Woody Allen, M. Night Shyamalan, and a "Clerks 2" celebrity playlist since Tuesday. All three are related to current releases. iTMS had an exclusive clip of "Superman Returns" and a Brandom Routh celebrity playlist several weeks ago. (Fred Armisen from "SNL" had a celebrity playlist the week before "SNL" became available on iTMS.)

    * Warner Brothers television shows were added to the store this week, so all but one of the major studios (Columbia/Sony) that make movies and television shows are represented in the TV Shows store.

    * WWDC starts in 10 days. (I know; it's a developers conference and not a consumer conference like Macworld, but it's a major platform.)

    * No new iPod so far this year, so it's about time for a new one. The previous rumors had been that a movie store won't arrive without a new wide-format device for playing video content.

    * Recent rumors of book publishers prepping material for an iTunes bookstore, which would only make sure for a larger iPod device.

    * Apple is running an iPod nano promo, which may indicate that they're thinning the stock. (A new video-capable device wouldn't be the nano, but Apple may want the marketing pop of reintroducing all of the iPod lines at once.)

I know that's a lot of random things to string together, but everyone knows that Apple will eventually launch a movie store and a handheld movie player. I'm just saying there's a lot of evidence that it may happen before Zune gets out of the box.

Also, Apple's new content announcement from E! Entertainment this week really makes me hopeful that Apple is working with Comcast to integrate iTMS with an HD on-demand service. (Comcast is the majority owner of E!) I could see an arrangement where you download a movie on iTMS and get to view it on an Apple-branded Comcast on Demand service.

Personally it's a lot easier to swallow $99 a year for a new Apple TV (set top box) than $999 a year for a new Apple branded television.

lol yet some morons out there would still buy every year

Yeah, and forget the 8 core Cloverton... now we're waiting on 16 cores with Tigerton: http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=4659

It sure beats Motorola/IBM's PowerPC slow update schedule. ;)

Tigerton (Xeon MP) is a different product line than what any of the current Apple offerings use. Until we hear differently, I don't expect we will be seeing Tigerton in any Macs.

Meh. It's an Apple. Really getting bored of the Apple look and iOS. To me they just look really cheap now. Already made my decision to get the Galaxy S2. Sorry but if Apple sticks with the 3.7inch screen, they're only gonna fall further back. Let's be honest, the iPhone isn't that great as a phone. It never was. Transmission, reception, and voice quality are poor to average. There's a reason why the iPhone 5 is being delayed. Apple took one look at the current competition and went back to the drawing bored. And that's fine. Any good company should do just that. I've never been a full on blind fanboy, hence my move to the GS2. At the same time, I don't want Apple turning into the next RIM. :o

I love tech that's on the bleeding edge. Right now for me, that's hardware. The tangible undisputed specs. And Samsung's high end GS2 oozes bleeding edge tech. The camera and 1080P video is ridiculously amazing. I'm not the emotional type that gets all caught up with the brainless "it just works" crowd. You know what?, they all "just work." If you don't know how to adapt to any OS, then maybe you just shouldn't even use any device at all. Seriously, they're all easy to use and get used to. Don't get me wrong, Apple to me is still a great brand, but for me the honeymoon is over so to speak.

Meh. It's an Android. The hardware works. The software, on the other hand, doesn't really. (Yet? Keep on waiting.)

And just for the argument's sake, you said you're sick of Apple and iOS look: At the first glance, the SSGSII hardware design don't look that different from the iPhone...

If u fancy tech then fine, it's your choice. I'm just saying. Cuz as far as my personal experiences with the Android OS go, I'm not happy with it.

Part of the problem is the way they market it. There was such an emphasis on templates and graphic-intensive stuff when it was first demoed in MacWorld 2005 that it's hard to think it can be a good word processor. My first thought was how it looked 100x better than Microsoft Publisher.

Again, I think this latest rumor shows that Apple will address some of the perceptions (or misperceptions, depending on who you ask) by allowing people to dive into word processing mode and adding better search and research functions. It just might make me a convert.

I entirely agree with you on these points. Apple is barely marketing iWork at all, let alone in a way which would help people understand its value. At MW last January I made a point of mentioning the Mac owner confusion over what Pages does to one of the reps on the floor who was demonstrating the new version. He also happened to be on the Pages programming team. (Which game me an opportunity to show him a bug I'd found. :))

He seemed surprised to be hearing what I was telling him, and I wasn't entirely sure he believed me in the end, but perhaps this rumor reflects some understanding on Apple's part that they're not getting the message out about these applications, particularly Pages. Maybe they'll get serious about marketing in version 3.

One other thing, I think Apple ought to be bundling iWork with most if not all of their systems, and not necessarily because we like to get free booty. The more Mac owners used iWork, the more who would see the value in forking out for the upgrades. This is exactly how Apple already markets iLife, so why they're not doing this for iWork is just plain mystifying.

Pages is Apple's word processing application which comes bundled in iWork (http://guides.macrumors.com/iWork). Pages 3 is expected to debut in January 2007 with the release of iWork '07. New features include two new modes called "Word Processing" and "Layout" to better cater to different users needs.

I think you are all wrong. On the BMW model names "ix" stands for a fuel injection engine and four-wheel drive. I believe there is an OS M coming for certain BMW models.

    +1

OS M-series would be awesome but I just can't afford the insurance.
